Thai oil massage in Narre Warren
Enquire about a Thai oil massage in Narre Warren: Thai pressure techniques with oil on a massage table, with draping. A local therapist confirms the details.
A Thai oil massage uses Thai pressure techniques with oil and long gliding strokes, on a massage table instead of a floor mat. There are fewer assisted stretches than in a traditional session, and many people find it a softer introduction.
At a glance
- Clothing: undressed to your comfort, under a towel
- Surface: massage table
- Oil: yes, ask for unscented if needed
- Pressure: light to firm
- Stretching: limited
Once your enquiry arrives, it goes on to a self-employed therapist nearby. They reply to settle a time and fee, and you are free to say no. About this service.
What happens in a session
The therapist asks about your health, any areas of tightness and the pressure you prefer. You then lie on a padded massage table. The therapist applies oil to one area at a time and works with the palms, thumbs and forearms, mixing long strokes with slower pressure along the muscles of the back, legs, arms, shoulders and neck.
The pressure can be adjusted from light to firm. Tell the therapist at any point if something is uncomfortable or if you would like more or less pressure. Silence is fine too: many people prefer not to talk during the massage.
Clothing and draping
For an oil massage you undress to your level of comfort, usually down to underwear, and lie under a towel or sheet. The therapist leaves the room while you get onto the table and uncovers only the area being worked on. Draping is a normal part of a professional oil massage. If you would prefer to keep more clothing on, say so; a therapist can adapt, or suggest a traditional clothed session instead.
Draping stays in place for the whole session. Any request for something other than a therapeutic massage ends the enquiry.
Oils and skin
Therapists use a range of massage oils. Some contain nut oils or added fragrance. Tell the therapist about any allergy, including nut allergies, sensitive skin, eczema, a rash, broken skin, sunburn or a recent tattoo. You can ask for an unscented oil. Oil can mark clothing, so wear something you do not mind getting a little oil on for the trip home, and allow a few minutes afterwards to wipe off the excess.
Who should check first
Oil work runs along the veins of the legs, so varicose veins and clotting problems need a mention, along with pregnancy, recent operations and anything else on the health list in our questions page. A GP can help if you are not sure. The therapist may change the approach or suggest another style.
Choosing between oil and traditional
People who want to relax, or who find firm stretching uncomfortable, often choose the oil style. People who like firm pressure and a full stretch sequence often choose traditional. Some combine the two, with part of the session on a mat and part on a table. You can describe what you prefer in your enquiry and let the therapist explain what they offer. The traditional Thai massage page describes the clothed style.
Health fund rebates
A rebate is possible with some therapists and some policies, never guaranteed. Ask the therapist which association they belong to, then call your insurer.
How to enquire
Send an enquiry with the style you want, the session length, your suburb and your preferred days and times. Mention any allergies or health conditions. A therapist contacts you to confirm the details before anything is booked.
